A project from my Motion Graphics II class. We were tasked with creating a Broadcast Package for use on Television or Social Media.
I took this opportunity to make the package for my Twitch stream.
Research
I needed to find references for how transitions and lower-thirds work and perform. Timing, pacing, and readability were all important considerations I needed to become familiar with, and research was a big part of understanding those aspects. The transition duration had to be perfect. Too long and it's a hassle to watch. Too short and it feels like a hiccup in the program, rather than a smooth change to the next scene or video.
OWN3D.TV was an amazing concentrated resource to view and learn from hundreds of transitions to see what I liked and disliked.
Design
The colour scheme, logo, and overall design were preexisting elements I use on my Twitch stream, so I was ahead of the game design-wise going into the project.
Animation
The animation goals were to be quick, clean, and concise without feeling rushed and interrupting. Finding that balance was a fine line, but I feel I landed on the perfect medium. I'm very happy with the results and still use them on my live streams today.
